The ingredients needed to make Gajar ka Halwa:
Make ready 500 gm Carrots
Get 1/4 Beetroot (totally optional)
Take 150 ml Milk
Make ready 100 gm Sugar
Take 150 gm Milk Powder or 250 gm Khoya (Mawa)
Get 50 ml Clarified butter (Desi Ghee)
Prepare 4 Green cardamom 4 or if using cardamom powder then 1/4 tsp
Get 3-4 tbsp chopped nuts of choice
Instructions to make Gajar ka Halwa:
Wash, clean & grate the carrots. No need to grate them very finely.
Add finely grated beetroot for a nice colour. Avoid it if you don’t like or if you have red carrots.
Add milk, cook covered for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes add half of the clarified butter & cook for 2 minutes on medium heat, stirring constantly.
Gradually add milk powder & ensure that there are no lumps in the halwa.
Add sugar & mix well. Now it would release some water
Stir it on medium/high heat till the halwa dries.
Add the remaining clarified butter & mix well.
Stir for 2 minutes on medium/high heat.
Add cardamom powder & mix well.
Add nuts of your choice & serve warm.
