  2. Get 1/4 cup split Moong dal
  3. Make ready 1 cup Jaggery
  4. Take 6 Green Cardamom
  5. Take 1/4 cup Water
  6. Get 1 tbsp Ghee
  7. Prepare 2 tbsp Nuts of choice, chopped

Thinaiyum thenum is also called as foxtail millet honey balls. Do not sun dry it, just dry in room itself. Then dry roast thinai until nice aroma comes, the color will change slightly. and you see it turning crisp. Foxtail millet, scientific name Setaria italica (synonym Panicum italicum L.), is an annual grass grown for human food.

Steps to make Sprouted Foxtail millet/Thinai laddu:

  2. Soak Foxtail millet for 4 hours to overnight. Next day drain water & tap dry. Tie it in a cotton cloth to sprout.
  3. Once sprouted, dry roast it in a pan until slightly browned. Keep the flame in medium.
  4. Wash Moong dal & pat dry. Dry roast it until browned.
  5. Grind roasted millets & dal to fine powder with green cardamom in a blender. Remove the skin & add only seeds of green cardamom. Sieve flour if needed.
  6. Make jaggery syrup with jaggery & water. No need of any consistency, set aside once jaggery dissolves.
  7. In a pan, add Ghee & fry the chopped nuts. Then add the powdered flour & roast for 2 mins.
  8. Switch off flame & add the Jaggery syrup & mix well. Add ghee if needed.
  9. Let it cool for sometime & make round ladoos out of this mixture. Add ghee if the flour is too dry.
  10. Delicious & Healthy millet ladoos are done. Enjoy it with family.
